Dow Building Solutions to Host 2013 National Home Performance Conference

Dow Building Solutions Becomes Host Sponsor of 2013 ACI National Home Performance Conference

Pittsburgh, PA, November 8, 2012—ACI (Affordable Comfort, Inc.) announced today that Dow Building Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW), will serve as a host sponsor for the 2013 National Home Performance Conference in Denver, CO April 30-May 3. This is the first time in ACI’s 26-year history that the organization will have an international manufacturer as a host sponsor for this event.

“Dow is an industry leader in air sealing and insulation solutions and these contributions are critical to increased home performance and weatherization,” said Amy Fazio, Chief Executive Officer of ACI. “Dow’s commitment demonstrates how strong the home performance and weatherization industry is, that major manufacturers like Dow recognize this is an aspect of the industry to invest in and support its growth.”

The home performance and weatherization industry creates solutions for the comfort, health, and durability of residential buildings by exploring how buildings use energy and how building materials and appliances affect energy efficiency, air circulation, and moisture. Homeowners seek solutions to enhance comfort, lower energy costs, and utilize sustainable resources; weatherization assistance programs help low-income households improve comfort and lower utility bills through renovations that are funded by community action agencies, non-profit groups, or local governments.

For more than 60 years, Dow Building Solutions has pioneered solutions that impact home building and remodeling. Long recognized as an industry leader in insulation, Dow’s flagship STYROFOAMTM Brand Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) Foam Insulation as well as its broad portfolio of spray polyurethane products such as FROTH-PAKTM  Foam Insulation and Sealant and GREAT STUFFTM Insulating Foam Sealants have advanced energy and moisture management solutions for builders and homeowners.

“By collaborating with ACI, Dow is helping to redefine how homeowners typically think of renovation—going beyond typical, surface renovation upgrades to address and improve the energy efficiency of the existing homes’ entire building envelope,” said Kaethe Schuster, Retrofit Market Manager, Dow Building Solutions. “Remodelers, contractors, builders, and homeowners need to learn how energy efficient remodeling projects deliver real value in terms of comfort, health, and financial return, so that they can enjoy their home more while protecting what is likely their largest single investment.”

ACI’s National Home Performance Conference is an annual event attracting members of all sectors of the home performance and weatherization industry—contractors, building analysts, utilities, government, and more—for a comprehensive educational agenda, workshops, networking, and the industry’s largest trade show. The 2013 event will take place at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, and registration is now open at

By aligning with Dow, ACI expands its reach to include more professionals who share its commitment to making every home healthy, comfortable, and resource-efficient.
