COMF 4 - Cool Roofs for a Warming Planet
Wednesday, April 09, 2008 · 8:30 AM - 10:10 AM
More frequent "extreme heat events" or "killer heat waves" are expected as climate change proceeds. Philadelphia's Cool Homes program has demonstrated through independent evaluation that white reflective roof coatings reduce indoor air temperature during heat waves, save energy, increase human comfort, lower health risks, reduce the urban heat island impact, and may even help slow the rate of climate change. Find out about the performance and selection of reflective roof products in different residential applications and climates.
By attending this session, participants will
- Find out what cool roof products exist and how they are rated and evaluated.
- Be able to identify the multiple and complementary benefits of cool roofing
- Learn how to cost effectively retrofit existing roofs
