BLD 8 - Addressing Thermal Bypasses in New Construction

Thursday, April 26, 2007  ·  10:40 AM - 12:20 PM

With the advent of infrared and other diagnostic tools, thermal envelope defects can be seen and documented. Some home inspectors are even using infrared cameras. As of January 2007, homes labeled as ENERGY STAR® are required to have completed an inspection using the Thermal Bypass Checklist. Explore thermal bypasses in new construction by viewing infrared images. While appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences, this course is focused on new construction ratings.

By attending this session, participants will
  1. Learn how to implement the ENERGY STAR Thermal Bypass Checklist
  2. Explore various options to address the thermal bypasses in new construction
  3. Understand the importance of infrared imagery in identifying these thermal bypasses
