ACI Home Performance Conference 2007

COMF 4 - Choosing Mechanical Systems

Wednesday, April 25, 2007  ·  8:30 AM - 10:10 AM

Explore the selection of mechanical systems based on fuel type and end performance. Electric air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, gas heating, DX cooling, radiant floor systems, and emerging small capacity systems will be examined. Critical design integration issues will be identified and decision criteria will be developed.

By attending this session, participants will

1.     Understand basic performance characteristics of various heating and cooling systems
2.     Recognize your understanding of heating and cooling needs of higher performance homes and the impact of load on system selection
3.     Explore solutions to the new high performance, low load homes we see on the horizon

Keyword(s): comfort, ducts, DX cooling, gas furnace, heat pump, radiant heat, registers, unitary air handlers.
