RES 8 - Roundtable: What Saves Energy, Who Saves, and How Much?

Thursday, August 17, 2006  ·  1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Program implementers and auditors have a relatively good idea of projected energy savings from either audits or engineering estimates. Measured energy savings from utility bill analyses can be counter-intuitive, and often fall short of projected savings. Find out what can be learned about measures individually, in aggregate, and over time. More importantly, what do utility bill analyses tell us about the potential for increasing or maintaining energy savings?

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Gain a better understanding of the characteristics of low saving and high saving households and treatments
  2. Realize why measured savings often fall short of predicted savings
  3. Understand how they can increase the cost effectiveness of their program

KEYWORDS: actual savings, baseload, cost effectiveness, envelope, mechanical systems, measures, predicted savings, priorities
