LOAD 9 - The Cold Facts: Refrigerator & Freezer Replacement

Refrigerator replacement has been expanding in utility and weatherization programs. Review some of the auditing approaches that are being used, including short-term metering and adjusted rated usage, and report on several studies that compared different approaches. Additional program implementation issues will address replacement policies, replacement rates, procurement, freezers as a replacement option, contracts, and proper disposal of replaced units.

  1. Explore the pros and cons of different refrigerator auditing methodologies
  2. Find out about the accuracy and decision making impacts of different approaches and how they may affect program savings and cost-effectiveness
  3. Get practical ideas to implement in their state or agency
