MAM 18 - Designing & Installing Mechanical Ventilation Systems

Monday, April 23, 2007  ·  8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Explore installation methods and tips for residential mechanical ventilation systems. These installation methods have been used to install thousands of ventilation systems that provide desired airflow, proper operation, and adequate distribution of ventilation air while avoiding pressurization / depressurization problems. Share installation experiences, problems, and solutionswith other installers. This short course is for technical audiences that perform or supervise installations.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Learn how to install different types of mechanical ventilation equipment such as spot exhaust, central exhaust, central supply, and energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) to deliver the ventilation required
  2. Find out how to size ducts on site using the sizing tables in ASHRAE 62.2, and install systems that meet this standard
  3. Examine the importance of duct sizing, installation, flow checking, and troubleshooting practices to ensure proper functioning of mechanical ventilation systems

Keyword(s): airflow, duct sealing, duct sizing, ducts, HVAC, mechanical depressurization, mechanical ventilation, pressurization, sizing
