Examine the Passive House standard's annual maximum operational energy requirement of 15 kWh per square meter (~1.5 KWH per square foot) in relationship to world energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, the potential for climate stabilization, and the financial feasibility of the construction. Explore the elements of Passive House design including continuous insulation, airtightness, thermal-bridge free construction, and balanced ventilation with heat recovery. See how the climate impacts the envelope requirements and the resulting implications for the mechanical system.
