Converting the attic or raising the roof are ways of gaining more living space. However, one must carefully plan insulation and air sealing treatments to avoid or correct thermal performance problems, control building moisture, and improve indoor air quality. Examine a variety of details to reveal the connections and dynamics that impact whole house comfort and efficiency. Explore different methods to insulate and air seal the walls, slopes, and attics on one and a half story homes.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Explore the architectural details and logistical challenges that can be problematic in knee walls, side attics, and eaves
2. Understand the impact of thermal and air barrier sealing better, in regards to insulation performance and moisture issues, specific to side attics and attic conversions
3. Learn about a variety of tools, techniques, and products to better deal with a mixture of configurations
