ThPM 16 - Designing & Sizing Duct Systems

Thursday, April 26, 2007  ·  1:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Residential Duct Design, Manual D, by ACCA is the favored method used for residential ductwork design and sizing. Explore the fundamentals of the Manual D method in a step-by-step fashion, including the basics of duct design, duct design rules, the fourteen steps of the Manual D method, and a duct design example. Topics will include static pressure, the importance of room-by-room load calculations, equivalent length of fittings, the choices for duct layout, and more.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Become familiar with the basic principles required for properly designing and building duct systems based on Residential Duct Design, Manual D, by ACCA
  2. Understand the connection between proper Manual J room-by-room load calculations and the design and layout of ductwork
  3. Learn about static resistance and some of the common duct system layouts and their appropriate applications
