Venting Combustion Appliances
Learn how to
analyze and properly vent a combustion appliance based on its vent category and draft type. Find out what can cause problems with the venting system in the
short and longer term, due to the venting system itself, the combustion appliance, or external conditions, either inside or outside the house. Gain practical
suggestions for how to recognize and avoid potential problems for a range of fuels, including specific issues in colder climates. Finally, design a venting
system using the vent tables in the National Fuel Gas Code.
By attending this session, participants will
1. Understand what factors influence the ability of a vent system to safely and effectively vent the products of
combustion, and continue to do so for the life of the combustion appliance, especially in cold climates
2. Learn about the methods of
classifying and analyzing a venting system for safe operation
3.
Use the National Fuel Gas Code venting
tables to design a venting system
