Panel: Insulation Installation in New Homes: Changing the Industry

This session features an expert panel discussing all aspects related to implementing high quality installation of insulation (HQII) in new construction. Discussions include: overcoming real and perceived barriers; a state energy code that provides compliance credit for HERS verified quality installation; new HERS requirements for insulation inspections; key installation details; mitigating thermal defects, state-of-the-art cost-effective installation tips and techniques; and regulatory versus voluntary strategies. This session is appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Learn fundamental details of correct insulation installation and cost effective construction techniques

2. Discuss ways to overcome barriers to HQII in the marketplace

3. Explore ways that HQII practices can be improved by incorporating requirements into state energy codes or voluntary programs such as HERS ratings
