SUST
3 AIA, ASHI
Four abandoned brick bungalows were rehabbed in the summer of 2002 to demonstrate a variety of energy efficiency
strategies, green product use, and landscaping practices. A different strategy was used for each home based on the design theme and work scope. Two homes
were “gut” rehabs, one was a moderate rehab, and the other one was an historic restoration. The homes were open for public tour after construction and prior
to being purchased. Energy efficient measures and green products used will be discussed, as will the energy savings and additional
costs.
By attending this session, participants will
1. Recognize the opportunity to blend energy efficient practices within a given rehab work scope
2. Learn about green products and landscaping practices suitable for urban sites
3. Hear results about the cost effectiveness of incorporating energy efficiency in building
rehab
