ACI Home Performance Conference 2009

AUD 1 - Energy Performance Scoring of Existing Homes

Tuesday, April 28, 2009  ·  10:00 AM - 11:45 AM

What are the issues of auditing, calculating, and reporting a home’s energy performance? Which metrics point us in the right direction? A pilot of the Energy Performance Score (EPS) has been conducted in Portland, Oregon to create an MPG-type score for energy use and carbon emissions of new and existing homes.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Recognize the potential value and limitations of an accurate energy performance scoring system for existing homes
  2. Learn why there’s no perfect scoring system and how issues such as house size and fuel choices create a minefield
  3. Be able to identify the difference between scoring a home and scoring a household
