Emerging HVAC Technology & Practices

Emerging HVAC technologies open new opportunities for programs and contractors. This session will address gas modulating and oil-fired boiler and furnace advances, cold climate heat pumps, low-loss domestic hot water (DHW) distribution systems, controls, distribution system location, and duct leakage. Explore efficiency, installation issues, products’ market readiness, barriers to increased distribution, key benefits, and opportunities that will influence availability and use in the future.

By attending this session participants will

1. Identify several residential heating and cooling technologies, practices, and diagnostic tools that are emerging and likely to be available to improve energy efficiency, particularly in the Northeast

2. Gain information about the technologies' impacts on energy efficiency (how they compare to conventional options) in this sector

3. Understand their readiness for market, including barriers to increased distribution as well as key benefits and opportunities that will influence their availability and use in the future
