COMF 6 - Efficient Space & Water Heating: Fact & Fiction

Wednesday, April 09, 2008  ·  2:00 PM - 3:40 PM

Review an array of space and water heating technologies and their different overall performances. The advantages and caveats with some new systems, such as modulating furnaces and tankless water heaters, will be discussed. Integrated systems, combining space and water heating, can present major efficiency advantages or the contrary. Additional energy requirements, particularly for fans and motors, will be discussed. Examine advantages of superior systems, in terms of IAQ, GHG reduction, and comfort.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Appreciate the range of technologies now becoming available for space and water heating
  2. Understand the benefits and potential drawbacks of some of the new systems, and why rated performance may or may not be achieved
  3. Be better able to choose the most appropriate equipment and installation requirements for their applications and programs
