Low Energy Homes: How Low Can You Go?

It has been said that those who ignore the past are likely to repeat its mistakes. Starting in the mid-1970s, a number of high performance demonstration houses have been built in North America. How did they really perform? What mistakes were made? What can we learn from these projects? Find out how well these homes performed. Three Canadian high profile demonstration projects will be examined: The Saskatchewan Conservation House (1977); The Energy Showcase Project (1980); and the Canadian Advanced Houses Project (1992-93). Learn about recent US projects. Discuss the implications for homes in the planning stage.

3. Explore strategies being taken in new and proposed projects to reduce energy loads even further
