By attending this session, participants will
1. Understand the concepts of “New Urbanism” embodied in this and other sustainable neighborhood revitalization
projects
2. Learn how HUD and
city dollars were leveraged with private sector – tax increment financing, down payment
assistance, below market rate loans, soft second mortgages, property tax abatements – to enable the project to
succeed
3. Find how energy efficient housing can be
designed to fit into the fabric of a historic neighborhood, meeting the design standards set by the National Trust for Historic Preservation
