Changes in HERS Technical Standards

RESNET has recently adopted enhancements to the national home energy rating standards. The goal is to improve the technical quality of ratings and the credibility of the rating standards. The key technical amendments are: aligning the rating reference home to the International Energy Conservation Code standards; establishing insulation inspection procedures; and crediting energy efficient lighting and appliances and on-site energy production in the ratings.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Have an understanding of the technical enhancements to the national home energy ratings standards

2. Learn the effects of these enhancements on the rating score across the nation

3. Explore the implications to ENERGY STAR® and building performance professionals of the enhancements to the national home energy ratings standards
