Train the Trainer: HUD Approved Lead Safe Work Practice (In-field)
Paint in most residences built before 1978 is presumed by U.S. EPA and U.S. HUD to contain lead-based paint (LBP). Workers
conducting interim controls or maintenance (paint stabilization, renovation, remodeling) that disturbs paint in such facilities must use lead-safe work
practices. For work done in federally-owned, federally-assisted housing, LBP training must be HUD-approved. This course is a HUD-approved introduction to the
hazards of lead and accepted procedures for working safely around it. With this course, you will be able to safely train others in our HUD approved four-hour
course. Receive a valuable Field Guide containing step-by-step instructions on how to perform a number of common renovation procedures safely on
lead-painted surfaces.
This session provides the following: course manual, classroom training, HUD Field Guide of methods for working with LBP, hands-on experience in LBP removal and cleanup, and
hands-on experience in assessing the level of cleanup achieved. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the
course.
By attending this session, participants will
1. Be able to conduct interim controls or
maintenance work that disturbs paint in HUD housing
2. Learn to conduct training for others who will conduct interim controls or maintenance work that disturbs paint
in HUD housing
3. Understand the hazards, rules and regulations regarding lead, and the allowed work practices for working in HUD
housing
