Improving Windows without Replacement

Retrofit weather-stripping of windows has been shown to cost approximately one tenth of the cost of installing a replacement window. As such, the payback becomes three to five years instead of thirty to fifty years. This session will deal with materials, methodology, benefits, standards, and testing of retrofit installations. Find out what business opportunity exists in adding this service to a multifamily building performance program.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Recognize that re-weatherstripping may be the only cost effective retrofit treatment for windows

2. Become aware of new window performance standards and how to test for these

3. Learn about the methodology and materials for use in treating most types of windows
