Supporting Behavior Change Through Fast Feedback

This session will review both high tech and low tech methods for providing customers with feedback on their energy consumption choices. Customer behavior directly impacts the total household energy bill, and the success of work done in the home. Feedback is the conversation that creates an effective partnership with the customer. Feedback tools can be as simple as individual appliance consumption estimates at the home, or as sophisticated as real-time usage data on a personalized website.

By attending this session participants will

1. Learn effective mechanisms for providing feedback on customer energy choices

2. Consider when a high tech or low tech approach is more appropriate

3. Discuss how feedback can be incorporated into program design or business operations

Keywords: baseload, communication, consumption, customer service, education, ENERGY STAR, feedback, measured results, persistence of savings, predicting savings, trouble shooting, utility bills
