TFD 02 - Smart Staging for Deep Reductions: One Phase at a Time
Tuesday, April 20, 2010 · 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Going forward we need to achieve substantially deeper reductions of energy use in existing homes. Complexity and cost can be significant barriers to an “all at once” retrofit. However, without a clear goal in mind, incremental improvements can make deep reductions more elusive. Small groups will use case studies to examine options for staging reductions. This session is for energy efficiency program implementers, home performance contractors, auditors, home renovators, designers, as well as policy makers.
By attending this session participants will
- Be able to identify ways that our current energy efficiency investments could increase barriers to achieving deep energy reductions
- Begin to be able to evaluate proposed measures or retrofit strategies in terms of their impact on achieving significantly greater reductions in the future
- Generate ideas to minimize barriers to deep reductions, thus priming the pump for the workshop panel session, PATH 4 –“Getting to the Goal: 2010 Reductions That Work for 2050”
