MULT 9 - Bang per Buck: The Cost-Effectiveness of Retrofits in Affordable Multifamily Buildings in Chicago

Friday, April 23, 2010  ·  10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

What retrofits are most cost-effective? How cost-effective are they? Why haven’t owners already done them? By looking closely at real-world project costs and gas data for several case studies, this talk will attempt to answer these questions and bring clarity to the debate over how best to “green” the housing stock. The case studies and lessons learned will be presented from the affordable low-rise multifamily buildings in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. See actual, hard data about costs and savings in retrofitted buildings
  2. Learn how to audit affordable housing, track energy use, and isolate savings
  3. Have the chance to share ideas
