ACI Home Performance Conference 2010

COMM 4 - Home Owner Manuals: Life Cycle Performance

Thursday, April 22, 2010  ·  8:30 AM - 10:00 AM

High performance systems and other “green” features may require lifestyle changes, maintenance, and proper operation to achieve at their rated benefits. In the midst of this transition to building high-performance homes, we often fail to recognize the importance of educating and providing support documents to the homeowner. Often homeowner education is no more than a 1-hour walk through, and a kitchen drawer full of, whatever equipment and appliances manuals the vendors bothered to leave in the house. Then as building ownership changes, even that effort is lost. The opportunity exists to broaden your customer service, reduce call backs, improve your credibility, increase referrals, and become a hero to your clients.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Learn that the lifestyle choices of the homeowners impacts significantly the performance of the home
  2. Discover how to educate home \owners on the benefits of their high performance home and how to operate and maintain those features
  3. Explore how to create permanent documentation in a form that will transfer with home ownership to support continued performance throughout the life of the home
