Flashing Products & Methods for Windows & Doors

Find out about different window and door flashing products that are available today. Learn about a tested flashing methodology for standard flanged windows and other newly developed applications, such as for brick mold and non-flanged windows and doors. Gain an appreciation from one window manufacturer’s perspective for the installation issues of areas with severe wind and rain exposure, particularly with the incorporation of a sill pan for drainage. from one window manufacturer’s perspective. A technical background in the window and door installation is helpful but not required.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Review benefits of flashing, using a drainage method versus a barrier method

2. Understand issues of proper integration of self-adhered flashing in areas of severe exposure, such as wind or hurricanes, using the drainage method

3. Share newly developed flashing methods for fenestration products other than standard flanged windows, such as brick mold and non-flanged windows and doors
