Dense Pack Insulation: Doing It Right!

Learn about the use of dense pack cellulose as insulation for the building envelope and as part of an air sealing approach. In many cases, dense packing will help to get better performance out of the cellulose, especially where air flows through building cavities. Gain a better understanding of the fundamentals and techniques used to insulate and reduce airflow. As long as you’re insulating, pay attention to the details and equipment upkeep to get better performance. Some wall surfaces cannot support the pressure; find out what extra steps are recommended with cathedral ceilings and high-moisture houses.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Learn what dense pack insulation is and how it can reduce hidden air leakage and conduction losses

2. See practical tips on machine upkeep and attention to details in installation and on the building

3. Hear a discussion of where to use and where not to use dense pack
