Presenters are responsible for having handouts available for all their sessions. Sessions with handouts are
consistently rated significantly higher than those without handouts. They help participants and provide a higher quality conference experience.
The following points should be considered when designing your handouts:
- Can they stand alone? If reviewed a month later,
do they still make sense?
- Materials presented should be included in the handouts. This saves participants from having to write down all of
the information and provides a vehicle for note taking.
- Do they relate directly to your topic?
- Include reference information for
participants in the handouts.
- Handouts can and should be used to provide more detail than presenters were able to provide in the workshop or
short course.
ACI WILL COPY HANDOUTS FOR YOU
ACI is willing to make sufficient copies of your handouts for your session
participants. We require the following if you would like us to handle your copying:
- Handouts must be sent to us no later than 4
weeks before the start of the conference.
- Handouts should be limited to 10 pages per presenter for workshops, and 20 pages per
presenter for short courses. It should be camera ready and on 8 ½ " x 11" white paper only.
- Do not submit newspapers, magazines, or
books to be cut apart.
- All copies will be printed double-sided on white paper and stapled. Special binding or folders will not be
provided.
- Make sure pages are in the correct order; they will be stapled in the order received.
OR, YOU CAN
BRING YOUR OWN HANDOUTS
If you take responsibility for copying handouts, please contact a program staff person. Since session attendance
can range from 10 to 150 participants, ask us for an estimate of how many will be attending your session.
Please submit an original for our
files to the ACI office as soon as you arrive at the conference.
