Moisture Measurement

The use of moisture meters to assess building materials and substrates is critical for providing initial findings during a moisture investigation. These findings are invaluable for forensic based inspection/investigations and for determining the cause and origin. This session will focus on the history of moisture meters and the detection of elevated moisture to determine if further investigation is needed and/or required. Hear a brief synopsis on “what & when” different types of moisture meters are to be utilized.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Learn that various building materials adsorb and absorb at different rates

2. Be aware of liability exposure when gathering field data and dealing with moisture meters on various substrates

3. Understand the limitations of various moisture meters
