Heating & DWH Savings in Multifamily Buildings

This session will demonstrate how energy savings are being achieved in Wisconsin by applying multiple high efficiency, sealed combustion, modulating (HESCM) boilers for space and water heating. Explore the features and designs of condensing boilers, their applications, and their advantages. Learn about energy savings by examining energy use before and after the boiler projects. Results are also available from side-by-side comparisons in new construction where some buildings have high efficiency sealed combustion modulating (HESCM) boilers and some have conventional boilers.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Understand the characteristics, advantages, and energy saving features of these condensing boilers and water heaters

2. Know how to assess existing and new construction multifamily building opportunities to determine if these boilers are appropriate

3. Learn how to properly apply these boilers in existing retrofits, for electric-to-gas conversions, and new construction multifamily applications

Keywords: boilers, case study, cold climate, combustion, energy efficiency, ENERGY STAR, gas, heating systems, implementation, multifamily, product selection, rehab, utility bills
