DEEP 5 - Access to Resources for Green & Deep: Accelerating the Learning Curve

Thursday, February 05, 2009  ·  10:20 AM - 11:50 AM

How do we transform new and existing homes in response to climate change, the environmental cost of products we use, and limits to water and energy consumption?  How do we take the existing programs and initiatives--Thousand Home Challenge, Passivhaus, REGREEN, etc--and the current predisposition of an incoming administration born of community organization and activism and focus all this into a cohesive effort on deep-energizing our existing homes?  This will be a lively exchange, [brainstorm] not a series of presentations!

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Be aware of a variety of approaches to define and demonstrate the potential to transform housing as part of increasing its sustainability and adaptability
  2. Appreciate the challenges and opportunities to develop the workforce, the leaders, and the champions who are critical to the transformation of America's housing
  3. Recognize the barriers posed by the lack of consensus on goals, definitions, indicators of performance, and verification
