FUND 5 - Capturing Electric Baseload Savings

Thursday, February 05, 2009  ·  10:20 AM - 11:50 AM

This introduction to reducing the year-round uses of electricity - commonly called electric baseload - includes technical and operational opportunities. Examine tools and methods for gauging the waste. Review the savings to be gleaned from investments in more efficient: 1) equipment - lights, refrigerators, electronics, etc.; 2) controls - timers, sensors; and 3) changed behaviors - from shorter showers to getting rid of second (and third and fourth) refrigerators.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Learn how to separate electric baseload from total whole house electric use
2. Explore how occupants, equipment, and use patterns affect electricity consumption
3. Evaluate options for measures and practices to reduce use
