When Building Science & Codes Conflict

In 2007, many code requirements involving vented crawlspaces, vented roofs, and vapor retarders expose contractors to risk and result in tolerance and durability issues. Most building officials are restricted to enforcing the written code creating a chasm between building performance and proctecting the occupants. Learn how to establish and maintain productive relationships with code officials as well as investigate reasons why science and code conflict.
