FUND 2 - Insulation & Air Sealing: Principles, Priorities, & Performance

Wednesday, February 21, 2007  ·  1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

What are the priorities for air sealing and insulation in new and existing homes? Understand why the most important air sealing is often done (or not done) with a hammer rather than a caulk gun. Learn what to look for to determine if insulation is effective. It is not just what works, but what solutions are permanent, profitable, and practical. Application techniques for two-part foam and dense pack cellulose will be discussed.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Identify priorities for insulation and air sealing in both new and existing homes
  2. Gain practical ideas regarding techniques that can be applied at the next job
  3. Know where to look for thermal defects in common housing styles

Keyword(s): air sealing, airflow, bypass, dense pack, existing homes, new construction, performance, pressure, pressure boundary, principles, priorities, techniques, thermal boundary, thermal defect, two-part foam, whole house
