ThPM 05 - Radiant Heating & Cooling: Design & Components

Thursday, April 10, 2008  ·  1:30 PM - 5:30 PM

This short course will introduce the application, design, and installation of radiant heating and cooling systems for use in floors, walls, and ceilings. Learn about types of heating and cooling energy sources, equipment options, hardware, design software, and basic piping and controls concepts. Some basic understanding of conventional hydronic and HVAC systems may be helpful but is not required. This session builds on the morning workshop, COMF 7, Radiant Heating & Cooling 101.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Recognize the steps and methods used in designing radiant heating and cooling systems
  2. Be able to identify types of radiant heating and cooling panels and typical applications, installation methods, and features
  3. Be aware of the different types of heating and cooling energy sources and equipment and how they interface with the radiant system piping and control systems

Keyword(s): boilers, controls, cooling, heating, HVAC hot water, hydronic, mixing valves, radiant heat
