Cutting Edge Results: A New Construction MFB Case Study

This presentation, given by members of the design team, and illustrated with photos, details, and graphs, will chronicle the development, design, and construction of a new thirty-eight unit multifamily building in New York City. This building will use less than twenty-five percent of the energy than a typical building of the same size. However, this high performance building was built for the same price as typical construction. Hang onto to your hat for a fast paced adventure into the world where building science meets construction!

By attending this session, participants will

1. Understand the energy, health, and durability issues for urban multifamily buildings in cold climates

2. See elegant and innovative details, systems, and strategies for the building’s design

3. Learn about the construction process for a green multifamily building

Keywords: air barrier, airflow, building science, cold climate, energy efficient, case study, heating systems, insulation, innovation, load calculations, multifamily, new construction, residential, state of the art, tight construction, ventilation
