ENCL 5 - Building America Technology Updates
Thursday, April 22, 2010 · 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
This series of presentations will review commercially available technologies developed and evaluated in actual homes under DOE’s Building America program. Presentations will include annual energy and comfort predictions for a sub-slab ground source heat pump in a high performance home, approaches for inexpensively installing ducts in conditioned space in Florida homes, and techniques for avoiding compressor-based cooling in many US climate regions by applying ventilation and evaporative cooling technologies. All presentations will address these advanced technologies in the context of both new and existing homes.
By attending this session, participants will
- Examine the energy performance and comfort implications of installing an under-slab ground loop for a ground source heat pump in a high performance home
- Identify novel approaches for locating ducts in conditioned space at low cost in Florida homes
- Explore options for applying lower cost ventilation and evaporative technologies instead of compressor-based cooling in dry climates
