LOOK 4 - Electric Baseload: A Thousand Tiny Bites
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 · 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Looking beyond refrigerators, water heating, and lighting, in this session we'll examine power and energy use at various settings for some of the fastest growing residential baseloads--information technology (IT) and TV/entertainment. We will calculate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced by a range of devices (not all IT/Entertainment), calculate the savings of selected actions and measures, and project the impact of a combined effort.
By attending this session, participants will
- Revisit definitions, typical ranges & baseload end-uses other than refrigerators, water heating and lighting
- Explore web resources that can help to identify savings opportunities, put costs on alternative equipment/behaviors, and express benefits
- Recognize themselves as powerful to influence and make a real difference in their programs, businesses, & homes
