Rebroadcast of Webcast Series 1 - Duct Camp
WC 1 - Ducts Run Amuck
Tuesday, September 12, 2006 · 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
How are ducts really performing? Research on residential duct systems proves that a great majority are huge energy and comfort wasters. Repairing duct leakage to / from unconditioned spaces along with inadequate duct insulation can deliver substantial energy savings for the homeowner and peak demand reduction for utilities. Ducts are rarely designed to deliver balanced comfort or to allow the equipment to operate properly, and can even cause dangerous air pressures in combustion appliance zones. This session identifies what we expect of ducts and provides an overview of the research.
By attending this session, participants will
1. Determine the performance criteria list for forced-air duct systems
2. Examine duct system field research results to better understand the actual performance of installed duct systems
3. Recognize the components of an effective evaluation process for existing duct systems
