EVAL 2 - Measured Savings Vs. Deemed Savings
Wednesday, April 21, 2010 · 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
While most programs rely on deemed savings to estimate energy savings, concurrent evaluations utilize in-situ measurements for real-time feedback to energy efficiency (EE) program managers. Resultantly, EE programs can be optimized on a quarterly or monthly basis, and the risk of misallocation of resources that may result from decisions made on outdated deemed savings may be minimized. Salient results from recent real-time and traditional “lagging” evaluation are presented and discussed.
By attending this session, participants will
- Understand the necessity, limitations, and appropriate application of deemed savings estimations
- Identify the primary factors that can lead to potential discrepancies between deemed and measured savings
- Appreciate the role of in-situ measurements and concurrent ("real-time") evaluations as a tool for program optimization
