ACI Home Performance Conference 2009
BEY 5 - High R-Wall Systems for Deep Energy Reductions
Wednesday, April 29, 2009 · 10:35 AM - 12:15 PM
Explore construction methods that achieve highly performing wall systems appropriate for differing climate zones. The presenters will describe several structural wall constructions using a variety of insulation types including loose fill insulations, spray foams, rigid foam sheathings. The differences between the systems will be highlighted including embodied energy, cost, longevity, and overall thermal performance.
By attending this session, participants will
- Learn about the advantages and disadvantages of the different high-R wall systems suitable for both new and existing homes
- Know the importance of the climate in regards to choosing a wall system
- Recognize and understand the assumptions behind several approaches that seek to answer the question, "What R value is high enough?"
