BEY 4 - Paths to Deep Energy Reductions in Existing Homes

Wednesday, April 29, 2009  ·  8:30 AM - 10:10 AM

Perceptions about the cost, availability, and environmental impact of energy are changing rapidly. There is a critical need to achieve significantly deeper levels of energy reduction. Join in re-examining our assumptions regarding what is possible and practical in existing homes. While some experience from housing and energy initiatives support implementation of the deep energy reduction paradigm, other residential energy efficiency traditions make it more difficult to obtain deep energy reductions. Explore the implications of deep energy reductions on the work you do.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Recognize that there are a variety of approaches and investments that can result in deep energy reductions
  2. Be able to identify the role of non-energy benefits in making a case for deep reductions
  3. Describe several retrofit strategies that are transitional and others that lead to lost opportunities
