ACI Home Performance Conference 2009

MPM 05 - Mac on Mold

Monday, April 27, 2009  ·  1:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Homes and buildings are considered to be durable and even appreciating assets, but our economy favors the manufacture of disposable point of use products. Old building materials and methods are no longer affordable. New structures are often science experiments with the mortgage holder funding the study. Mold and moisture problems tell us the building is beginning to fail. Some fixes are quick and cheap but not in the long run. Understanding decay can help put problems in perspective.
By attending this session, participants will
  1. Appreciate the relationship between mold, building durability, and property values
  2. Understand the biology of the building envelope
  3. Hear current ideas on molds and indoor air quality issues
