ACI Home Performance Conference 2009
MAM 09N - Finding & Preventing Cracked Heat Exchangers (In-field)
Monday, April 27, 2009 · 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Learn to read the signs and perform the test to find defective furnaces. Participants will focus on the air side of heating. Discover how important proper airflow is to the performance and life expectancy of a furnace. Understand the many problems from improper airflow, such as a cracked heat exchanger being one in particular that occurs.
By attending this session, participants will
- Understand how much airflow a furnace needs
- Know how to measure the airflow, static pressure, temperature rise, and flue temperatures
- Be able to use smoke and mirrors to find cracks, holes, and corrosion in a heat exchanger
