COMF 7 - Duct Design & Register Selection
Thursday, April 30, 2009 · 8:30 AM - 10:10 AM
Balanced airflow and uniform comfort levels are achievable in all new and most existing homes by following the proven principles of load calculations, duct design and construction, and register selection and placement. These rules are rarely understood or followed by builders, HVAC crews, or retrofit contractors. This session introduces resources, gives example applications, and explains the principles behind the calculations in the process required to deliver “comfort” to the occupant.
By attending this session, participants will
- Understand how room-by-room Manual “J” loads and Manual “D” sizing form the basis for optimal duct design and construction to deliver balanced airflows to every room
- Become aware of the importance of supply register selection and placement in delivering balanced comfort and uniform temperatures
- Learn to recognize opportunities for improved comfort in both new and existing homes through proper applications of air distribution principles
