SHLL 6 - Insulation - Sorting Out the Options
Wednesday, April 29, 2009 · 2:00 PM - 3:40 PM
The mechanisms of heat loss and gain and thermal insulation in residential structures will be reviewed. Issues related to insulation such as pollutant release from the insulation, control of condensing surfaces (for moisture and mold), sound control, and esthetics will also be addressed. Participants of this session should have some prior familiarity with residential construction and energy efficiency.
By attending this session, participants will
- Refresh their understanding of the processes and mechanism of heat loss / gain in a residential structure
- Be made aware, for a residence, of the many locations where thermal insulation can be beneficial
- Review the options and considerations for the design, selection, and installation of various types of insulation
