ACI Home Performance Conference 2009

MULT 5 - Tall Stuff, Tall Matters: Elevators, Pumps, Ventilation, & More

Wednesday, April 29, 2009  ·  10:35 AM - 12:15 PM

Large buildings are not simply small buildings scaled up. Some parts of the US are just starting to build their first large buildings, and they need to get the basics right the first time, while other areas need to learn how to straighten out the mistakes already made. Find out what needs to be done differently to get large buildings to work well.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Understand the basic science behind why energy efficiency in large buildings depends on different priorities than in small buildings
  2. Learn how to choose, size, design, and retrofit elevators, pumps, and ventilation systems for large buildings
  3. Learn to not fear large buildings, where time and money spent on improvements can sometimes pay for itself hundreds of times faster than in small buildings
