HOUS 5 - Mobile Homes: The Forgotten Housing Stock

Wednesday, April 29, 2009  ·  10:35 AM - 12:15 PM

There are over one hundred thousand manufactured homes in Wisconsin, representing approximately 4.4 percent of the total housing stock. Similar percentages exist elsewhere across the United States. The physics of energy loss are the same in all buildings, but the devil is in the details and there are many unique details as well as challenges in manufactured homes. This session will address: the housing stock, diagnostic procedures, building science, ventilation strategies, insulation opportunities, safety concerns, and cost effective retrofits. Find out about Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy Program which seeks to identify and implement the most cost-effective energy retrofits, free of charge, to mobile home dwellers in eligible markets.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Explore the techniques, tools, diagnostics, problems, and solutions involved in manufactured housing
  2. Investigate cost-effective retrofit measures and best practices
  3. Discover lessons learned and results from the Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy program
