COMF 5 - Envelope Solutions for Comfort
Wednesday, April 29, 2009 · 10:35 AM - 12:15 PM
If air, cold, or heat can enter the building, aside from damage that can be caused, comfort is affected negatively. Understand the principles of proper envelope performance (interior / exterior water intrusion & vapor condensation, mold, insulation type or lack thereof, air leakage, window and door issues, etc.), forensic tools utilized to identify problems, remediation and quality assurance options available, and compliance testing protocols that can be used to commission the envelope.
By attending this session, participants will
- Explore the building science behind comfort issues
- Learn to recommend or implement solutions in both new and existing homes
- Be able to interpret the impact of comfort based on building shell improvements or lack of adequate measures
