ACI Home Performance Conference 2009

HEAL 3 - Measured Crawl Space Performance in Multiple Climates

Tuesday, April 28, 2009  ·  3:35 PM - 5:15 PM

This session will present the design, implementation and field results of multi-year research conducted independently by Advanced Energy and Washington State University. Closed (unvented) crawl space performance in Baton Rouge, LA; Flagstaff, AZ; Vancouver, WA and Moses Lake, WA is reported. The performance of critical design considerations, including radon mitigation, proper drainage, insulation placement, and duct system location will be discussed in context with monitored results for moisture levels, energy use, radon entrainment, and air movement.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Explore closed crawl space designs for hot-humid, cold, and marine climates
  2. Learn about preferred materials and tools for installing closed crawl space systems
  3. Gain a better understanding about the moisture, energy, and radon performance of closed versus vented crawl spaces in hot-humid, cold, and marine climates
